A project where various producers / Beatmakers are challenged
to take various songs from different eras and genres and reproduce them through
sampling and submit greats beats. Laying a foundation for rappers and musicians
alike to start writing and get in studio to record on the beats and good music
is made.
We’ve brought together the music and packaged it on a Mixtape and
called it WORDS on BEATS that was launched at the Baxter Theatre Centre on 22 March 2013
as part of the Annual Zabalaza Theatre Festival.

HIP HOP (Words & Beats)
The Creative Database seeks
to use the medium of the
creative arts culture to
offer a rare opportunity for young, creative and musically inclined
minds around the globe
to use personal and technological interaction to create sustainable
cost effective artistic
projects. The maiden project is Words & Beats (Beat-Markers/ Rap
Challenge, events and a
Mixtape to be launched later this year). This exciting project has
been spearheaded by
popular pioneers in the Cape Town Hip Hop Music Scene, from young
cultural activists,
music producers, Dj’s, poets and rappers.
The Creative Database team comprises
Mawande Manez Sobethwa, Nicholas Matyida, Thando Mkwambi
and Wanda Mxosana.
